Collection settings

Here you can create your own individual look and feel for your collection. You can define a multitude of options ranging from background graphics/colour schemes to customised watermarking of your images. Most of the options are very simple to implement, but to select some of the more advanced options, a familiarity with HTML would be helpfull. If you are familiar with style sheets you can upload your own this will automatically overide some of the settings, you can view the classes by clicking on the style sheet option.

has its own default colour settings, but these can be changed.

Tip: open your collection search page or result page in a new browser window, change the collections settings, save your changes and refresh the search page in the new browser window. You should then see the changes you made immediately.

Watermarking settings
The Watermarking option allows you to apply a transparent (physical) watermark to your images in order to protect its copyright value. You must upload the file you wish to use for watermarking, again this must be a valid JPEG file, once this is done it will remain as the watermark file until you upload another or disable watermarking. The transparency level can be set, 1 being lightest 255 being heaviest, if watermarking is enabled the settings can be tested on the manage collection screen.

Once watermarking is enabled all images added after will have that watermark applied, any previously added images will have to be re-added or watermarked in batch mode, to do this contact the email address below.

Template files.
You can add custom shaped watermarks to your images. Up until now you simply adjust the level of transparency across the whole watermark image, and because it is a bitmap you will always see a square image. Obviously logos etc. can be all types of shapes so to apply a custom shape you use a template file which acts as a 'mask' between the main image and the watermark image, whereby any area of black (RGB 255,255,255) is not passed through.

The template files black areas are not passed through to the main image, when the watermark is applied. By adjusting the level of grey (for example RGB, 70,70,70) determines the level of transparency when the watermark is applied to all non black areas (the transparency level will be ignored).

So for example with this watermark file (which is simply the colour white, so that white text from the template file is generated):

And this template file (remember anything black does not get passed through):

You get this result when the above files are applied to the watermarker:

Remember once you have created your watermark all your images will be watermarked automatically, you can also change the watermark and reapply to all your images at any time.

This use of the template file allows the user full flexibility in determining the shape of the watermark and by changing the RGB levels the colour bias of the logos transparency. To create the template files use a photo editor package.

Portfolio settings
To enable the portfolio system, simply check the box, default graphics will appear but you can also upload your own JPEG or GIF graphics for the various portfolio functions (add/edit/delete). The uploads only have to be done once, if you want to change the graphics simply upload another set.

Custom search page
To create your very own search page requires a little knowledge of HTML. To do this take a copy of your collections search page. Using the 'View Source' option that you have in many browsers save this file locally, you can then manipulate the layout, add drop down boxes to fields as you wish. You must however maintain the integrity of the 'form' tag and fieldnames.

TIP: Use one of the many HTML editing tools to help you do this.

Once you have finished, upload the html file in collection settings and enable it by clicking, on the check box, you can do this as many times as you like until it looks ok. If you require any advice or help about this option email below.
